Ditto!

Another great acoustic (and quite eclectic!) recording is Loreena McKennit's Live in Toronto & Paris.

+1 for this one! :)

Dream Theater - Once In A Live Time

Everythings sounds so F-N great especially the vocals! His name isn't coming to mind right now but he had some of the greatest live vocals I've ever heard. This is how a live album should be! The rest are all just posers! lol j/k :)

And in a close second is Metallica's box set only because its like 3 CDs and 2 DVDs and a bunch of other crap as well!

Guess I'll pitch in here too:

Dave Matthew Band, Central Park Concert

Blues Traveler, Live on the Rocks

Robert Randolph and the Family Bands, Live at the Wetlands

Gov't Mule, Deepest End

Johnny Sketch and the Dirty Notes, Live at the Spleaf

Betcha never heard of that last one huh?

I'm gonna go with:

Rick Wakeman - Journey To The Center Of The Earth
...This album was recorded with the Rolling Stones' supersweet mobile recoring equipment ... I'll overlook the overdubs on an album this cool.... ;)

Bob Dylan - Live 1966 (Simply lengendary music wise!)

Bob Dylan - Live 1975

...What am I doing?... this would take all day... THERE IS A LOT OF EM.. But these are the ones that struck me when I read the prompt...

I forgot a couple important ones...

Jimi Hendrix - Band of Gypsys (I know there were some edits on this one too)

The Roots - The Roots Come Alive (most people haven't heard hip hop like this)

New Grass Revival - Live (Telluride Bluegrass Festival)

Right on! Have you seen/heard/own the box set???

actually, i work at circuit city and we hijacked an open box plasma tv and put it back by the surround sound systems and our manager opened the dvd so we play that over and over and over and over.. i don't actually own it
i didn't even think they would overdub live videos for some reason... i always stare in amazement when they're singing 5 feet away from dynamic mics with music blasting and it still sounds tight as nails.

Gotta love that Muddy Waters performance on the movie... Dylan and Young look cracked out though...

Ten Years After- Live at the Fillmore East
Woodstock '99
Jimmi Hendrix- Band of Gypsies

I've hear some good live Zeppelin, but can't think of the title right now.

"How The West Was Won" or maybe "The Song Remains The Same Soundtrack"?

Frank Zappa's The Best Band You Never Heard.

Simply awsome.

Quoted for truth. His rendition of Purple Haze and Sunshine of your Love...mindblowing. :)

I'd also like to throw in Medeski Martain and Wood's "Tonic". Done totally accoustic recorded with a single stereo mic. Has to be heard to be belived.

I also have a soft spot for:
Bela Fleck and the Flecktones - Live Art
Phish - A Live One

Grateful Dead- Europe '72, Reckoning. Great stuff, from when they could still play.
If we're talking Dead, I have to say "One From the Vault". I love the sound of that one to death.

1+on Wakeman- I forgot about that one- like you say, theres just too many good ones. :)

I've yet to find a live album I like that wasn't overdubbed/overprocessed to hell...

You'd probably like bootleg tapes for that reason... :)

Man, those are all some great records. Made in Japan - Oh yeah!

I'm gonna throw in Kansas' "Two for the show". It's rare that I prefer live over studio rcordings, but that record has a degree of perfection to it, and an energy that's close to a spiritual experience.

I wish I could nominate Yessongs, a real classic, but the recording quality is lacking.
