Hi,

I recorded a song in sonar 3 before having a midi interface. I want to put drum loops on the song mixed with midi drums.

I recorded a metronome on track 1 (72 bpm) and put sonar to 72 BPM... of course it is not exactly synchronized with the measures but it is very close. Now that I got a midi interface, I extracted timing to get midi notes but as I said it is not sync perfectly. How could I get to align the measures to the midi timing that i got now, so I could add drum loops?

Regards,

Thierry

There is probably a better way,but this is how I've aligned tracks...
I right click the clip to bring up a clip properties box and reset the clip starting time until I get the desired results.
This still may not be accurate, especially on longer songs as the clocks in both devices probably are'nt dead on and this could lead to "drifting".

Couple of ways depending on what you have got.

Firstly, you could sync the drum machine (I'm assuming) to Sonar using MIDI, so that you only have as such one 'Tempo', or you could program the drums in Sonar and use the external module as a 'playback device', run the outputs of that back in to the inputs on your sound card and go from there.

Just a couple of thoughts,

Porter
