Hey everybody. I was wondering if you guys could help me out.
I'm currently using a POD XT (not pro) to record my guitars.
Borrowed it from a friend, and it sounds pretty good. Now I decided
it's time to invest in a one-stop guitar proccesing appliance and get all guitar
troubles out of the way for good. To me what's important is good metal distortion and beautiful clean tones. What I tried and don't like: distortions on BOSS GT-6. Since I got the POD XT I just put the GT-6 aside and only use it live. But for recording I hated it. BOSS always has this fuzz in their distortions. These annoying high fequency noises that don't go away with eq-ing.

Anybody out there have any experience with the TC Electronic and the POD XT PRO? Which one is better???

Or is there another option? I live in a dorm/flat and can't buy an amp for loud recording for fear of getting into trouble with neighbours. I want digital recording without digital noise. But maybe it's the price to pay for getting good clean tone.

Current setup is recording via 2 standard guitar cables from POD XT to left & right inputs on EMU 1820 soundcard. Using Nuendo & Reason for recording and sequencing plus m audio radium 49 keyboard.

I dont think that the GForce has distortion on it, does it? I think it just does stuff like chorus, delay, reverb and the like.

But as far as what it does, it would blow a POD out of the water.

It looks like the GForce has some overdrive kind of effects but more for simulating overdriving the input/output of effects boxes.

I don't think that its an even comparison between the two devices.

These are different things. One is a preamp/modeler. The other is an effects processor.

Alright

This means I'll probably end up having to buy both.
Routing the signal through the pod then G force.

Pricey...

thanks guys

It would be a waste to put a super high end processor like that thru a modeller such as a POD.

with all that money you have to spend, you should just buy a nice amp and then one of those isolation boxes. What type of music do you play? I would buy something else than a pod like a mesa triaxis or something if you really wanna go the direct route.

well ericlingus

Well I don't have much money but I had some gigs this month and getting some back pay coming in this or next month. And according to my calculations I'd be able to just barely afford the pod xt pro amp modeler.

I would have saved up some more for the g-force but turns out now that it's not what i need as a first priority.

Rectifier Recording Pre-Amp • 2 Rack Spaces .............1.895 euros
TriAxis Pre-Amp • 1 Rack Space ...............................2.895 euros
Line 6 POD XT PRO .................................................. 729 euros

If they are that much better, I'll wait that much longer. ouch!

I don't have 1 style of music. I write everything from slow acoustic songs to dance music for my dj outfit to metal / alternative for my band. And I also record people more regularly these past months for auditions for the RockAcademy etc.

I want to make that next step into convincing guitar sound. I'm standing at the POD XT (not pro) mark right now. Since its borrowed I'm just using the presets.

so you are happy with the pod xt sounds? What do you want the pro for instead of the regular one? I would try out a sansamp psa 1.1. They are about the same amout of money are the pod xt pro. I don't know, seems like the pod pro might fit you after all since you play all those styles.
