Oh boy.....looks like ol pumpkin has picked up a few rocks.....what's that?.....what the hell is that?.....Could it be a snake? I was just reading in another thread.....Pumpkin....did you join Indebiz? Maybe Bob has been right all along. In just two threads (unless my eyes are lyin') Mr. Hooper lost one, but gained another. How long has this been going on?

BD, this is an old case that was settled a long time ago. Unfortunately, as part of the settlement, neither party involved can discuss details of what happened. However, this link on the Velvet Rope will give you more information on what went down.

Not yet. I was just thinking about it when I came across that article. (Also, $99 is a bit too much for me now) I did a search because someone in this thread (don't remember who and I don't have time looking for it again) recommended David and asked us to do a search. I did and found this in the first search result page. I hope David can explain it. ...

Pumpkin, send me an email with your phone number. I'll give you a call and get you set up on a comp account so you can check things out.

If you like it, I hope you'll come back here and let folks know. If not, feel free to post your opinion on why you feel that way.

I was trying to figure out how guys get so many posts on here.........thats it.
Break up one into three.

Pumkin......everything is out there for free. The deal is it takes work , Indibiz, Taxi, Tonos etc etc make money from guys like you who think there is an easier path. There is not......in most cases they will slow you down from your original path or goal by making you waste time waiting or doing things that mean very little. Its all in the time you are willing to put in and the doors you are willing to open. Everyday you don't work on the project is a day nothing happens.........man Im starting to sound like Dave........that will be $1.99 US please.

I think the owners of the board should put in a links section where usefull free information can be added.

Don't forget guys.....

Hey Bob, we used to call it being Buffaloed.(no pun intended)

Hey Dave, I guess you figured out that being a schooled Muscian doesnt pay the bills. Now I was wondering if your a schooled musician and know how to make music, then why on Gods green earth would ya want to be a bookwriter, promoter??? Why would you even bother with your indiebiz? If you know how to make 100,000 a year makin music why not do it if yur a schooled musician. By the way Im schooled also. MI( GIT) for a year in Hollyweird. I also went to business school......
I just dont understand now that you told me yur a schooled musician.....Do you have a CD out? Does it sell and make you the big bucks?
Dave Im sure you could help someone one way or another. Im not disputing that. We all need hard lessons in life. You cant succeed without failures. I agree with some of your knowledge. Some is just plain outdated. The music industry isn't what it used to be. It changed forever around 95 and not for the better.
The bottom line. Anyone(musician) can make it in the music biz. Many cant handle it when they get there. Those who give up would never make it anyway......
Im kinda having fun.....

Who the fuck do you think you are, troll? I was in the music business when you were just an impure thought. You, and your ilk, exist on the periphery of the business, and always will, like a remora who accompanies the shark to pick up discarded scraps of food. Are you a musician? An Agent? An engineer? A producer? No - you are all of them wrapped up in a $99 package.
You are a "dream merchant", and not a very good one. Any band with a killer live show and a CD would have NO NEED for your "services".
You are trolling for the kid in Nebraska with a dream, and taking advantage of that kid is despicable, beneath comtempt.

Buff Bob...............

I could NOT have come up with better analogies.....

Greetings from a Northern Troll,

After three pages of this, I just couldn't resist.....

To all you young musicians out there.

Nashville, New York and LA are chock full of people in the music
business---That's right---They make a living and pay their bills
consulting or managing songwriters and artists period.
Before the internet they used to place mail order ads in the back of Popular Mechanics or The National Enquirer---anyplace to get
the word out...Do they help??? Maybe to some.....
From what I've read here, it appears these two pay sites are providing consulting services in one form or another for a fee--
fine-then let the buyer beware......
BUT...
If you were doing your due diligence you would realize the music
industry that they are related to is going through a huge upheaval and frankly may not survive in its present state.
While one of the writers mentioned his college degree, let's
talk about 2nd year commerce which teaches the impact of technology on core industry structures...
They use the example of how the development of the Boeing 707
for transatlantic travel destroyed the oceanliner business and currently are using the current events in the music industry as an
ongoing case study of the same principles.....

The bottom line is that more than ever chasing a big label deal
may be futile and when you get there, the cupboard may well be
bare.

Make music because because you love doing it.

Graham.

Actually, my office is on 21st Ave S, right off Music Row. The 2NMC office is at 18th and West End, also right off Music Row.

Take your pick. I'd love to have you drop by, Bob.

Do you accept "Pay-Pal"?

We don't accept it for IndieBiz.com as that is a recurring membership, but we do accept it for book orders from MusicBizBooks.com.

You're assuming that everybody wants to be a working musician and that's just not the case for me. While I enjoy the creative process like writing and recording, I really don't care for performing and the other aspects of the business.

As I mentioned, I don't eat meat (or bar food) and I don't drink. Living my life in clubs doesn't appeal to me.

But some people really like it...and I'm able to help them make the most of the experience.

The creative process that I used to put into writing and recording is the same one I use for writing books and coming up with new promotional strategies. So, I've got what I need, and the bands who want to perform for a living get what they need.

No. Now my job is music promotion and marketing, so that is what I concentrate on.

What specific changes are you referring to?

What have I said that you don't agree with?

pashop...hilarious cartoon, but you obviously haven't read the book. I woudl never tell folks to go out and purchase a ton of equipment they don't need. That's a great way to get into debt and force yourself into a dayjob for a long, long time.

Hi David
Thank you for the offer. (I just sent an email to you. )

And pashop
Thank you so much for your advice.

"Everyday you don't work on the project is a day nothing happens........."

Well said! I really agree with this!!

As for other things, as you can see, I'm totally new to this thing. I still need to do some homework before I make any major decision.
David's offer is great for me now since I couldn't come up with enough money to join. But now I can check things out for free before I really spend anything. I'm looking forward to it actually

Anyway, thank you for your advice
I really appreicate it :-)

Pumpkin,
You'll need a sturdy harness and a length of Bluewater 2......we'll be on belay for ya. Don't forget extra batteries and dry socks. Remember...take only pictures, and leave only footprints.
