I have a Tascam M-3700 with an MSR-16 as a track recorder. I'm having crosstalk issues between all the Tape In inputs accross all channels. Even when all channels, monitors, and groups are muted I still receive a very low crosstalk signal to studio, CR, and stereo outputs. The signal is the same strength as if I hadn't muted anything at all. It is important to note that even if a single Tape In is use I still receive this crosstalk to all 32 channels acrross the board. I can even amplify the low crosstalk signal if I increase the gain on a specific channel whose inputs are not used at all. As is obvious, I can not use this board for recording until I figure out what is going on with it. Is this a buss issue? A filter/capacitor issue? Other issue? Thanks in advance for any advice.
This is very unusual as the M3700 has very low crosstalk if any at all. Do you actually mean it has cross talk between tracks or are you saying that the signal from the tracks gets to the CR / Stereo outs when every channel is muted.
Are the faders in bypass mode (automation bypassed) or on? The main channel mute should work for both anyway, but the small mute button only works when automation is on (fader not bypassed).
Have you got a send returning to the stereo bus?
And I have to ask the obvious, have you just bought this setup? If so have you read the manual for the 3700? Is everything connected correctly. If everything is set up correctly there may be an issue with an internal connection or earthing and you may need to get a tech involved.
I actually own this exact setup except that nowadays I use the 3700 with a Tascam MX2424 digital recorder but still have my MSR16.
