So i have recorded a song, mixdown the song, then go into master mode apply my compression and then hit record again. once its done recording i go back to multi-track mode and it saves. when i put the SD card into my computer I go to music find the specific song name and at the top is (songname).wav and (songname).wav_z

What is the difference between the .wav and .wav_z files?

now i have listened to my master and decide i want to go in and apply the normalizer to my already existing mixdown. so i go back to the master mode, apply the normalizer and hit record, then go back to multi-track mode, wait for it to save. then put the SD card in my computer and there is still only (songname).Wav and (songname).wav_z and they sound the same as the the files before.

what am i doing wrong here? with my previous recorder i could have multiple masters of the same song on my CF card. i would do a mix make a master and give it a name, then if i wanted to make adjustments i would go back make another master give it a different name and both of those masters would still be on my CF card.

thanks for any help.

You can't remaster a master. There are ways to work around this ...

- you can create your master, export it to PC. Then bring it back into the DP-24 on stereo tracks, and master those tracks into a new master. Read the import section of the manual. The file you import must be 16/24 format. Personally, I'd normalize on the PC using Reaper.

The .wav_z file is created at the time the .WAV master file is created and contains data used internally by the DP-24.
