Not to hijack the thread here but Did someone mention Wurlitzer?

Just started restoring this late 60,s wurlitzer 7300 combo organ.
And it is all analog

I welcome your hijacking. I have always wanted a wurlitzer like that. A band that I really like plays with one of the later wurlitzer more portable keyboards(I am clueless to the models). The sound's are really nice IMO. The wurlitzer I got my hands on was a 3 keyboard organ. So the pickup wouldn't of been possible without my drummer!haha. The thing must of topped 150 pounds. I wish it would have worked better than it did and my mom wouldn't of had such a fuss on it. Too bad you couldn't have restored it!

Hows your restoration going? I'd really like to hear that thing sing.

Tascam 388 is now reborn. The belt has been received and replaced. Everything seems to be in working condition. I have recorded a track of my band and almost completed it. I am extremely happy. Everything is working!!!

I was afraid the rec and playback heads wouldnt work then I'd be looking for more parts. Hearing the recorded sound on 6 of the 8 tracks felt amazing. Knobs! FINALLY! No more mousing around. Got my set up rocking pretty sweet now. I can't express how excited I am. I'm gonna go play again, maybe I'll have something for you guys to listen to soon! :)

Thanks for the priceless help!

Let me add, that I felt like I couldn't turn my 388 off ... because I didn't Save my work.:):eek:

My friend,...

May you have many happy days and nights of 8-in/8-out/8-simul recording fun!

The 388 crushes the competition,... literally!!!!!!!!;)

Not only does it crush the competition, it crushed my index finger this evening.

Eric, this is great news and I'm very happy for you!:)

TIP: record all of your 'critical' higher frequency material, such a vocals, guitar, piano etc... toward the middle of tape, while the rest, less critical stuff, ones with lower frequencies, such as drums, bass etc.. go closer toward the edge tracks. Why? Edge tracks are usually more prone to dropout and other anomalities.

Here's a song from the 388. I wanna learn how to get better with effects. Good point cjacek, I was curious of the stability of the outside tracks. For this track, the guitar was recorded on track 1 but to me it came through pretty good. But good to know. The song is called campfires and battlefields by my band atlas at least.

:) Hope you like it!Cause I do!

Good, clean, tight, live sound Eric! An awesome 1st recording on the mighty 388!! I'm impressed! Keep it going! :)

...and remember, keep your 388 obsessively well maintained and it'll reward you for a lifetime! :)

Danny Danny Danny. Less critical stuff like drums? Bass?
Shame on you ;)

Good job Erock and congrats on getting your 388 working

What could be less critical than drums, Herm? Thump, thump, thump already...

Hey Mike how is it going? I just noticed that your post count is 666 on this thread. Bad vibe man.
My room and I are ready to Jam :D

I'm not sure I can still tune a guitar, but........LET'S JAM!

667....neighbor of the beast

On further listen, I think I can actually hear a bit of degradation in quality on my guitar track. When I'm playing the higher pitched notes on my guitar they kinda crackle a little bit. At first I assumed it was my amp doing it but it may be the track number effecting it. You are a genius cjacek. I finally like the way my guitar is coming through on the recordings though. This is a glorious day indeed. Thanks for telling me about that. Got any other friendly reminders to help achieve higher quality recordings on my 388? Thanks!

Be careful with the peaks on your meters on the 388. When using the dbx you dont really want to peak at 0. 7 to 8 is plenty.

So youre saying that if I have the dbx on, I dont need to push the levels so hard because the signal to noise ratio is more under control?

-7,-8 is a good peaking spot for my instruments?

yes. With Dbx you can get some wierd stuff going on if you go to high on the meters.

sorry this is off topic but does the 388 have phantom power??

thanks

Thats not off topic! This is a thread about the 388!

No, it does not have phantom power unfortunately. Unless it's hidden away in a secret compartment and I never discovered it.

Actually, my m-audio dmp3 just had it's channel 1 break so I'm down some phantom power and don't know what to do about it.
