Which model of dbx unit is supposed to work with a Tascam 38?
Thanks.

They are dbx type I units and I think they are specially made for the 38. They have these "cascade" cables that connect from the 38 and the two 4-channel dbx units.

Thanks Mad.
Would you have any idea what the model number is?

I can check it out when I get home. I have a 38 with the dbx units.

Thanks,I'd appreciate that.
A bit of websurfing makes me think it is probably a dbx DX-4D.

DX-4D is the model number. They are 4-channel units, so you need two of them. :)

Thanks for the info.
Looks like it is discontinued-probably long ago...

Yup, DX-40 is it. They're actually made by TASCAM. I guess it's time to check eBay. I might possibly be tempted to sell mine, but don't count on it.

FWIW, this NR works really well, but if you've got a good front-end and the machine is calibrated correctly, the 38 isn't really all that noisy.

I find the same thing. I can barely notice the noise difference on mine with it on or off. Lately I've been recording without it.

If anyone ever wants to sell their units, please keep me in mind.

Thanks for the heads-up.
