Tape guide problem?

Hey Everyone:

I picked up a Fostex Model 80 about 6 weeks ago, and I've been noticing a disturbing problem recently. The tape guide just to the left of the heads seems to have a burr or edge on it that is gradually causing the tape to flake off like dust. If a put a piece of white paper beneath this spot (machine is in the vertical position) after a few minutes of use there's a small dusting of tape fragments. The tape is all brand new 456 and 457 so this isn't a shedding issue.

I've cleaned and cleaned and cleaned this guide, but I can't spot the problem. Could it be a tension issue? Is there a way to rotate the guide so a new face is in contact with the tape? Or is this normal?

Cheers,
J.

No, not normal. Yes, rotate guide. This is what they do for you when you get your heads re-lapped.
