takes me back, lol. is this stuff classic yet? the "classic" stations have been playing the same 50 songs for the last 10 years, but i digress...

best line: "...and whisper so softly: i wanna fuck you!"

guitars sound great--- appropriate tone and tasty licks that are raw and refined at the same time. good timing, too.

mix sounds powerful and balanced in headphones. nice job.

Hi Greg!

Don´t know exactly what to say because I´d love to say something negative about this track but it kills me that I just...I JUST CAN´T!!!
This is pretty much a perfect 70ies-like rock song with great guitar solos, great singing and a huge amount of testosterone in the songwriting. Can´t say anything about the mix though. Everything seemed fine to me. I listened to the song on my stereo-system (not on my crappy laptop-speakers as I use to do) and it rocked really hard. That´s really one huge, manly song with at least two sets of testicles attached! Guess you are compensating something. ;)

WHOAH there, Greg!! What a killer!!

great sound and your voice....! But more than Poison, it reminds me of the RAMONES!!!!! Love it, Loveit, love it!:D

PS: I particularly liked the Parental advisory sign next to the song (Ha, Ha!):D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Cheers
Joe

Great Job Greg - lots of NRG and great delivery. You nailed it! :D

Thanks a lot. I didn't write it though. It's a Poison song, which is about as un-manly as you can get without being fully homo. :D

Lol. Thanks. Ramones comparisons are always good. I appreciate it. :)

Thanks a lot Ido. :)

Hot version. Guitar solo could come up.
Thanks. Gonna remix it tonight and fix a few things I don't like. I'll juice the solo a little.

Lovely! Pretty much dead on the money. Yessir..it rocks.

Thank you sir. :)

New mix up in the original link. De-compressed the drums and juiced the solo a little.

Yeah...it is kind of like the Ramones covering Poison. Great studio quality recording! Drumming is top-knotch, guitars sound nice and full, vocals are on the money. Almost makes me like Poison:cool:

I don't think you have the right hair for this song...

Seriously, great job, love it. Pass the hairspray.

I get tired of telling you, "sounds great dude", but it does...don't know the original, but I have to think this is way better than the original as it has kind of an all-too-rare good eighties vibe as opposed to almost everything else from that decade. I think it is your voice. Very authoritative rather than pussified whining or shreaking.

Two things:

Do you ever get feedback these days that actually helps? You often mention how bad you sucked when you were starting out but I missed that stage. Do you feel like you're still improving?

Also, how do you achieve this consistency? All of your mixes sound like they come from the same studio and/or session and that is pretty amazing. I feel like I am re-inventing the wheel every time I press record. Do you memorize or store all of your settings and re-use them? I need to know just in case I hit on a sound I want to be able to replicate...

Thanks man.

Yes, very much. Hell yesterday over at A&A I got some comments on my drums that helped a bunch. I got into a bad habit without even realizing it. Now it's fixed. I do get a lot of nice comments, and I really appreciate them. Positive feedback is always nice, but I'm not some glory-hog. I really do want to know where the flaws are so I can make the best mixes I can.

Yes I do. I knew nothing about any of this 2 and a half years ago. I still don't know anything - I just know what works for me.

I make my own presets that get me in the ballpark, and I always do everything in the same room. Like for drums, I've spent a large amount of time with mic positioning and stuff. I play live a lot too, so I'm always breaking my kit down and setting it back up. I know about where my mics like to be though, so I can duplicate the setup. Once the drums are tracked, I have a small library of homemade track presets that I can stick on each track just to save time. For example, if I really like the kick sound on a certain song I did, I'll save those settings, and use them again whenever I want to. I also save all my finished songs on an external harddrive, so I can always go back and see what I did to get a certain sound or effect. I do everything else pretty much the same way. Bass, vocals, etc I get em close with my custom presets. Nothing ever works the same though, so I'll always have to go in and do some fine tuning. I think the key for me, and probably anyone else too, is to just be consistent in my methods and my songs will be consistent. My stuff doesn't use a bunch of weird sounds or arrangements though, so it's not too hard to get consistent sounds with distorted guitars and rock-style drums.

This song is 100% dumbstick - & that was the point wasn't it?
Vocals are just a bit too loud for me - I'd like 'em to be more Joey R level.
Great job as usual Greg.
What's A&A?
