Sweetening means to overdub more tracks. I could be wrong about this, but sweetening does not mean to add effects like reverb, reverse reverb, delay, rooms, compressors etc. I know that sweet spots refer to the right level that the pre-amp or tape rcorder have when the sound is really great. Sweet spots and sweetening are different things. You can ask any of my friends at Harmony Central. They know professional engineering and they advised me on all my equipment purchases.

Walters, to answer your question, I think you want the opposite effect of creamy, milky tracks. You know, if you let your tracks sit out in the heat too long they'll become sour, which, unfortunately, is not the effect you're going for. Hope I helped! ;)
