I just finished recording my band with the BR-8, and I bounced everything to the 7th and 8th track. When I play it through my surround system, it only comes out of the back, not the front speakers. I recorded stereo, so the left and right are even, but everything sounds muffled in the back and I don't want that. If you understand a single word I'm saying and know how to help, please do. Thanks in advance,
Chris

I dont know alot about recordning in "Surround". Meaning left, right, center, front and back. But I do know a hell of alot about the BR8. I know that the BR8 does not record in true "Surround". It records in STEREO. What are you trying to do? I need more information before I can offer any good advice.

Lemme know.

P.S.

Just curious. Why are you bouncing everything to 7 and 8?

Well, I was trying to record and make it come out of front and back speakers. In the car I can't hear anything coming out of the front speakers, and the same with my sound system. I know it can have sound coming out of the front speakers, because I have recorded something before and have it perfect, but forgot how I did it. I bounce everything to track 7 and 8, because I usually have things recorded on the first few tracks, is it bad or something?

Let me start by explaining that you can only record in stereo with your BR-8. You can keep tracks centered. You can pan to the right, or you can pan to the left. All of these options make up a "Stereo" recording. Wich is what you hear out of the Radio or on your favorite CD.

I have no idea why you are not getting sound out of certain speakers in your car or at home. It doesnt sound like a problem with the BR-8.

As for "Bouncing everything to tracks 7 and 8". My suggestion is to utilize all 8 tracks. you have more control over your sound and each track. plus it will allow you to use tracks 7 and 8 for 2 more cool tracks for your tune.

I hope this helps.

In my opinion it is a lot easier to install a zip drive on your pc and load the tracks up in it and mix down like that because I like the BR8 but it is hard to mixdown on it if you use some of the v-tracks because you have to bounce from here to there and so on but that is just my opinion because a lot of the ppl that I record use 6-8 tracks just for there Chorus and plus you can't do a lot of editing but I guess it depends if you are recording vocals on it or instraments

Are you playing it back through a pro logic sound system? If so, Anything panned hard left or Hard right is going to get decoded by your receiver to go to the rear surround speakers. It almost sounds to me like Your mix must have almost zero information in the center panning region. Do a test by panning things closer to center with fewer parts at the extreme edges. this is easier to do before bouncing down to two tracks. You could just pan them both in a bit and see what changes. Also, try turning off the pro logic in your receiver. I dont think anything is wrong with the BR-8.
