i can't figure out why my mouse hits on the drums are louder than the keyboard hits. i get that the mouse probably can only hit one velocity and that's likely 127, but no matter what i do or how hard i hit the keyboard key, the mouse hits are still a little louder, Anyone ever have this issue. can anyone explain what's going on?

thanks all.

There's probably a preferences setting that determines the velocity ascribed when you insert a hit by mouse click. The default is likely 100 (this is the case in Cubase and Reaper, IIRC). It shouldn't matter what DAW or particular VST software you're using when controlling via midi keyboard. Perhaps your keyboard is faulty or just doesn't register above a certain velocity.

What DAW are you using? Which midi keyboard?

thanks for the reply !!, i am using cubase 5 and an AKAI LPK25. i kind of thought it was a default in cubase but i can't seem to find the settings for it.

Ok, moving to Cubase forum....

By default, programmed input with mouse is set at 127 (or at least I set it there once, and it stays there). I don't believe there is a default setting. Just what you set before last save of session. You can easily control this in the 'Drum Editor', by changing the value in the tools at the top of the screen. As far as changing max velocity from any particular controller, I would guess that would be in the software for the unit itself. I have an AKAI MPD18, and unless I set it for 'Full Level' (which I usually start out with for programming basic stuff), it barely hits 100, unless I beat the hell out of it. I already destroyed a LPD8 by bashing the pads like a drummer...
