Great vox!!!!

IMO I just think you need to get the compressor right. I don't want to hear any verb (IMO, sorry) It may be a matter of running different compressors set different ways. Go easy on the threashold and it should help on the breathyness some.

Thanks, haha, that guy can sing. He nails it every time.

I don't want reverb, it sounds good just, dry. It just hurts your ears he sings so loud. Multiband compressor? It was recorded with an SM57, but I might re-record the vocal with different setups and get something more manageable.

Multiband compressor?

No, as in two compressors. One set with a very deep threshold, low ratio (1.2-1.8?), fast attack (.01ms). The other with a very light threshold and harder ratio (4-6?), and a slightly slower attack. (.2ms? enough to not kill the sound). I would mess around with these settings, and order of compressors until you find the sweet spots

That sounds great for a 57 on vocals. IMO, if anything else try staying with a dynamic mic.

Either way, these are just my thoughts, good luck!
