Can't find hardly anything on these mics. How do they fare against the NTK? How would they be for female r&b/jazz vocals? How about saxophone?

T3 rocks. To my ears, it is a little more colored than NTK, but multiple polar patterns increase versatility. It is better compared to Rode K2. On R&B female vocals- if it fits the singer, it is a very good mic. For sax, personally, I would choose a dynamic mic most of the time.-Richie

...if you can pick up a clean used one (they go for around $300 on Ebay) I would rate the T3 as the best value of the Chinese manufactured tube mics...made by 797Audio (known for very consistant capsule quality) the T3 with it's multi-pattern cabability is a bargain at that price...not quite the quality of the Rode K2, but definately more versatile than the NTK...upgrade the tube with an NOS GE 6072 tube and you've got a steal of a deal...Studio Projects best mic IMHO...
...I do however agree with Richard that a sax is best miked with a dynamic or ribbon microphone...

*****at the T3's "new stock" street price of $499. I would suggest saving the extra $50-100. it would take to get the Rode K2*****

I can't afford the K2 at the moment, but was considering the T3 over the NTK or the 4050. I do have an RE20 for my sax and male vocals, so overall just looking for something to compliment females to give a more warm, intimate feel. . I was going to purchase the T3 used on Ebay for $370, but I am guessing that is too much.

I like the T3 way better than the NTK. The NTK is way to bright and spitty, IMO. The T3 tones that down while still retaining enough high-end sheen to serve most vocalists well. Plus, as others have mentioned, it is multi-pattern.

Me2 /T-3

Ill have to jump on the band wagon and say I love my T-3.

I have quite a few mics and sometimes I will get away from using the T-3 when I dont have time to set it up and warm up for a while before using it. But when I think far enough ahead on a tracking session and set up 4 or 5 mics for a new vocalist so many times in blind taste tests we pick the T-3, particularly for meaty voices.

I auditioned T3 against an apex 460 and MXLV69 last week, I liked T3 the best, but I am going again in couple of days to compare it with SE electronics Z5600A, I heard good things about that Mic also, If you can wait, I will let you know.

I have used the Z5600A a couple of times and chosen it above AT4050 and U87 on a few vocalists ... but I love my T3 to bits. It keeps surprising me with the sounds it makes and in the last few weeks I've been recording my own band, who have a female singer. It works so well on her voice, getting a crisp sound but one that doesn't lack body or depth. I also really like it as a room mic on guitar cabs and as part of a blended pair on tenor sax, with a dynamic closer onto the instrument.

T3 Rocks

I have owned the NTK and in my opinion, it is too spitty and "scratches" the ear after a while. The T3 is much smoother, cleaner and fits better into the mix. It needs a slight boost at 5K for my voice. It absolutely rocks on my female back-up singer. It's a beautiful mike, and honestly I just can't believe you can get it for $420 if you sweet talk a Sweetwater sales person. Go get it- you won't be sorry.

...a tube "transplant" (preferably a NOS Siemens E88CC/6922) will eliminate that annoying tonality you're referring to in the NTK...the T3 also benefits from a better tube (a GE 5-Star Black Plate 6072 in this case)...in both cases, a good investment...seems the stock Russian/Chinese tubes spec out well but somehow impart a sonic character that doesn't really do these mics justice...just my $.02...

That's true but it can also be said of a great many guitar valve amps. No matter how good a Laney VC-15 sounds for the money, it could always do with some EH or Groove Tubes in it. :)
