Yeah noisedude, and I've been reading on some of the other web sites that all the 797 Audio/Studio Projects B1 mics don't sound the same. I think the two 797 Audio/Studio Projects B1's that I had and sold were pretty close... but, I wonder if there is a quality control issue with Studio Projects like Harvey said about Oktava?

DJL, sometimes I wonder what your intentions really are.

I've had two AKG C3000's that didn't sound the same and had a different output level.

I still have two AKG D12's that don't sound the same either.

I have six Sennheiser MD421's that all sound slightly different.

I have two Sennheiser MD441's that also sound different.

I have seen nobody complain about this phenomenon so far.

We all know you have some difficulties with SP.

BTW bro, why do you call them mics 797 SP? :D

No dog in this hunt gentlemen besides trying to get a mic fixed.
Nothing in particular to do with you, skeelsd. It’s just that anytime SP is mentioned here, along comes DJL with his hammer and chisel to try and find a weak spot in SP’s integrity so he can discredit them somehow.

We see it happen over and over and over again. He never seeks to discredit any other mic merchandising company by the way, only SP. In fact, he’s currently doing some chiseling over in tubedude’s SP C4 thread. Then when others point this out, he starts accusing them of picking on him. It’s a never ending scenario. Just something we have to live with, I guess.

I may not know what I'm talking about, but isn't this true of most mics? I thought that's why you pay more per mic when buying matched pairs of just about anything?

Well, I'm an unhappy/unsatisfied 797 Audio/Studio Projects customer (x-customer now) and I meant nothing more than what Harvey said about Oktava... and I call the mics 797 Audio/Studio Projects mics because PMI/Studio Projects and 797 Audio are partners... 797 Audio makes the mics for PMI/Studio Projects and PMI/Studio Projects sells the mics for 797 Audio... and it says 797 Audio and Studio Projects right on the mic... so that's why I call them 797 Audio/Studio Projects mics.

What happened that caused your "unsatisfaction" with SP? I think that question has been asked before, and I don't recall that you ever answered it.

I'd be very interested to hear what caused your intense dislike for all things PMI....

I think it came about when DJ realised his sexual fantasies about Alan Hyatt were just that......FANTASIES.

Much like the rest of his postings.

;)

I don't believe this statement is factually correct. 797 is the manufacturer of the Studio Projects line. SP designs the mics in conjunction with 797, then sells them under the SP name. The mics are not available from any other source, unlike many other companies which purchase a stock OEM model and then brand it with their own logo. Alan has stated they put the 797 logo on the mic so that they would not have the appearance of hiding their origin.

Let's make sure we're all on the same page here and keep the facts in order.

Well, none the less... I call the mics 797 Audio/Studio Products for reasons that I stated above.

DJL, your problems with SP are personal IMHO and not of our business. (no pun intended)

If Alan , Justin or Brent were my worst enemy or enemies, I still would say they make nice mics.

I read only about the good service from PMI on the forums, so I just don't get it.

I do respect your opinion, like anybody's, but I don't get it.

I have yet to find a $79 LDC that sounds better than a SP mic.

I would fight my personal little war in private, with respect, but I'd fight hard.

So please bro, leave it alone.

Yes, you stated that before... however, there are other mics in that price range that IMO are just as good... like the MC319, V67G, and etc. And I'm with you about keeping this thread about the 797 Audio/Studio Projects B1 mic and not about me, Justin, Alan, and etc... but, that's not going to happen unless the others here help keep it that way.

So what you're saying is that you're not going to answer the question about what happened to cause you to try to discredit SP at every turn?

Unfortunately, every time you pop up and start taking potshots at SP, you are making whatever thread you choose to disrupt a thread about you. Spinning the blame onto those who call you on your poorly disguised slander is just your way of trying to deflect the attention away from what you're doing.

Consider using the Ignore function. It restores a lot of bandwidth that is otherwise wasted.

Thanks, but even if I don't always like what is said... I will still read it... I may not answer... but I will read it. :)

That's right... tell me about yourself instead. However, I did answer the question... but I deleted the post because of Han's request.

skeelsd - methinks you should start a new thread when your problem is resolved so that it can be differentiated from this alternative topic! it's not your fault ... just there is this fascinating cat and mouse game that takes place here but because of the nature of the BBS the mouse can't be caught unless he gives himself up!!

it's good fun on the whole but people are still smarting to some degree about perceived (i'm not giving my opinion again here) distasteful and inconsiderate comments made after the death of a guy who was designing a new mic with/for PMI.

i think after that happened the game took a turn downwards and has gone on to be a little less enjoyable than it could be.

skeelsd, I don't care where you post the info... but please post what they tell you... if and when they ever do tell you what happened. Here's why I ask... a while back people (like you) were posting that they were having problems with their 797 Audio/Studio Projects mics... and they were told (by Alan) it was a moisture problem... so I put up a Marshall MXLV67G and a 797 Audio/Studio Projects B1 on mic stands and left them there to see which one would crap out first... the B1 crapped out after about a month and a half and the V67G has never crapped out and it's still on the stand and working. So I'm curious to know what PMI tells you the problem was. Thanks

Not true.

You squelch the mouse using the Ignore function. Shunning is a VERY effective tool for dealing with trouble makers because you no longer see their posts. If others enable Ignore, then nobody will include the mouses diatribe in Quoted replies. In short, the mouse is completely removed from the bandwidth.

Humm, for some reason there is a handful of people on this bbs who do not want anyone to post anything negative about 797 Audio/Studio Projects products... I guess this is a pro Studio Projects bbs only and if anyone has had a problem with the products and says anything about it on this bbs they will be flamed.
