Greetings,

Its been a while since I've posted due to my "day job" occupying all my time by flying my tired arse around for the past four to six weeks.

So, happy belated *insert religious holiday here* and Happy New Year!

Construction within my studio has pretty much halted, for a variety of time-related reasons, however the more I look at the room, the more I've decided to change several things mid-stream before I spend the rest of the money and finish.

The main change I'm going to make is to get rid of the 2x4 "hutch" I made for the mixing consoles, some outboards, the computer monitors, and the console monitors. While it was a neat idea, no matter how many times I look, it just gets uglier to me.

Instead, I've decided to weld together 1x1" square steel tubing and build an open frame desk, with a LCD monitor shelf immediately behind it for my PC monitors. Then, I'll weld together (using the same materials) two monitor stands, so I can increase the distance between my ears and the monitors. Right now they are waaaaaaay to close and the sound is nowhere near as flat as I'd like. Tolerable, yes. Ideal, not even close.

In fact, I'm looking at the Behringer Truth monitors - I saw the other thread and a good buddy of mine picked up five for his 5.1 capable studio. They do in fact sound very nice (and flat). He's still learning how to mix on them since his prior monitors were not as flat, though better than what I have.

Anyway, I also have to make the console table *larger* since I've acquired some of my buddy's tascam digital equipment. So the table has to be turned sideways, across the length of the room rather than the width. Of course I don't like this because of the potential acoustical problems, however that can be solved by angling one of the walls, no problem.

Anyway, just updating the group to my tales of woe :)
