strange soundcard problem

after installing my xbox360 controller drivers so i could use it to play a game on my computer i found that the sound coming from my m-audio mobile pre usb soundcard was all muffled and staticy ... no static when a song isnt playing though, only when a song is playing. i tried uninstalling the xbox 360 controller and deleting the drivers , and reinstalling the m-audio drivers and the problem is still here... any ideas????
 
i just tried the onboard sound on the computer and that worked fine.. so it's something to do with the m-audio soundcard...
 
hmm, well i just did a system restore to a few hours ago, and the problem seems to be fixed , strange.. now i'm going to be an idiot and try installing the xbox 360 controller again :D
