You do realize don't you, that in your artistic snobbery, you are more guilty of what you're accusing others of. From your superior perch, you look down and see that everyone else is trapped in a narrow mindset with no appreciation of art--talentless hacks! Never said what I made was any good. Just that it appeals to a certain crowd. As for my stuff being good art...No. I know that it's shallow and simple.

It's just not desperately trying to sound like the worst part of a dead period of music like so many of you folks do.


As for the put up or shut up thing...People like you don't get it. I hate to use old expressions but the "You don't have to be a chef to know a shit sandwich when you eat one" really applies here.

My one skill: I know what has energy and inspiration and soul and real emotion and what doesn't.

I would rather hear an old tape of a shitty band's demo that had those factors than to hear multitracked perfection that wants so desperately to sound "Pro" while never doing anything with any beauty at all.

I didn't say put up or shut up. I said put on some clothes or shut up. I was extending the reference to the emperor with no clothes. (Try to keep up, Scooter.)

If your music is what you choose to "put up" then fine. You're more than entitled to do so. But you can't do so and then in the same breath say "You guys need to open your minds to my art!" and "You guys create trash!"

Your enlightened & open minded appreciation of high art is your calling card--it's your royal robe. And yet you dismiss all that doesn't fit your narrow view of art. So there's no robe at all.

You are right on the point of not having to be a Chef...but...you still need experienced/skilled taste buds, to properly discern between what is actual shit or preference in Genre...as they say, one man's shit sandwich is another mans feast.:eek:

Oh...and it does NOT take skill to know energy, inspiration, soul and real emotion...that takes HEART. It is not a knowledge you can learn. You either have it or you don't.

No, see you think this about me. I don't want your appreciation of my stuff and I don't say what I do is art. I'm honest about that. My point was that even if it were decent music or good art, people who appreciate soulless shit like EW+F or anything that Bob Rock did would never be people who could appreciate it anyway.

And Canada doesn't suck. Just the music. Too bad about the current political situation, but maybe some good music will come out of it.

I don't want you to open your minds to my music or art. If I don't get across to you and I intend to, then it's a failing on my part. Since I'm not trying to reach any audience or appeal to any crowd, the fact that I've got ANY fans at all makes me really surprised and happy.

To the person that said not skill, heart...I agree. You're right I've got no skills, but a lot of heart. As for the "tastebuds" comment. I don't think I care to develop my tastes to include the set of things that suck.

No matter how humble or self-deprecating you try to be about your music not being art--broad and condescending remarks like the one above (bolded for you) reveal your real attitude. You're looking down your enlightened nose at all of us.
