FET? WOW! :D

So how much do you normally charge for type kind of service on this particular model? :)

Email me your address so I can send it on its way... As I can't wait to own the first Flatpicker exclusive! Will you sign it and label it Serial #00001? What? You think I'm joking? :)

I can already read the headlines now... Flatpicker: The next Jim Williams... ;)

You heard it here first folks!

Way too many higher quialified people (like Marik) ahead of me in line for that. ;) There's about a hundred of them over at Tech Talk.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, though! Check your PM.

Aus,
I'll post about any improvements I discover.

did you have any trouble getting the case screws out? mine are soft and off center (not positioned in the hole well, half the screw head is underneath the case), and they get mangled when trying to unscrew....

All of my Oktava screws have come from the factory pre-mangled for my convenience.

OK guys, I am going shopping--our local GC has 3 ECM8000s. Later tonight I will 'reverse' the schematics and see what can be done with it. Not to 'invade' this thread I'll start a new one--'ECM8000 mods' is coming soon. :)

Flatpicker, can you tell me what kind of magnets used in ML52. Are they ceramics or neodymium?

You don't screw them "out". You screw them "in". Really!

The point is to screw them in just below the outer layer, which isn't far because it's real thin. Then the case just slips right off over them. That way, you don't have to re-thread the screws back into those tiny holes.

Uhhhhh... how can I tell? I'm betting ceramic, but you never know.

I was going to get those pics for you tonight, but I didn't make it. Maybe by this weekend...

<how can I tell? I'm betting ceramic, but you never know>

What color are they?

The ECM8000 is sitting next to me awating for its fate...

Here's a blurry pic of the ML-32 NAKED!. See if you can tell. I'll make one that's actually in focus when I get a time. :p

Naw, I can't. When you take pictures (no sweat) please make sure to get all views. Did you put in LL2911 yet? Common, it takes 15 minutes. :) Actually, looking at ziz pictar I got a brilliant idea. But.... to see if it works I need to see allll the siiides.... ;)

I've got all views, but they're blurry.

The LL2911 also takes $50, which is why I don't have one yet. I'll order one soon though, (along with a few other transformers) because the US price goes up (again! ) in March.

bah!

man, hopefully I can still do that

I do a different mod to the 012s. I change the input cap to 1000pf polystyrene=>50V. The two rf caps to stacked film .01uf 50V PET. I change the 1uf tant to a 1uf stacked film PET 50V.

The ouput caps measure OK on a sencore lc102, The good thing is that they have a good voltage across them to help keep the plates formed. Both are in circuit.

You can find the schematic of the 012 at www.omnipressor.com in the OTHER section.

done! I notice an improvement in the highs; they seem less harsh.

Thanks, Marik. I thought it probably wasn't a positron emission tomograph. :)

Welcome aboard, Gus! :D

I've got some polystyrenes on order.

For those that don't visit Tech Talk, Gus (like Marik) is one of the major mic modding gurus over there. He has modified and re-built more mics than you can shake a stick at!
