stingray guitar preamp

mandocaster

non compos mentis
I have a 1978 musicman stingray I guitar that I bought on the bay a couple of years ago. When it was built it had an onboard preamp that gave active two band eq. When I got the guitar it had a Mighty Mite preamp that I don't think was original and didn't work. I removed the preamp, replaced the pots, and rewired the guitar for passive tone controls. Now I kind of want to return it to its original configuration, or as close to it as I can. Ernie Ball is totally uninterested in the older guitars, and doesn't provide parts or support.

Bartolini makes an onboard preamp called a TBIBT that is intended for bass but fits the general description.

Any ideas? Anyone that has experience with these somewhat unusual guitars?

No experience with that model, but generaly speaking, the bartolini preamps are very well build and geared towards sertain models, or wired for a sertain number of knobs. That's why they have so many models.

I say go for it. You can't really go wrong with a bartolini preamp. Just get one that has the right number of knobs.
