Static during digital audio playback?

I Fixed my input level problems and I have a different soundcard in my computer now (soundblaster live 5.1). For some reason though, whenever I play back a track I've recorded, a terribly annoying static popping runs the entire time the track is playing. I'm using Sonar Home Studio 4

I don't have any problems listening to anything else on my computer, and the speakers work fine.

I'm not sure where it's coming from, the input isn't distorted, the levels don't go into red, and all the drivers are updated and everything. Only during track playback do I hear this sound that's driving me insane.

Any ideas?

:D Yo double K:

To paraphrase the BEAR, "What goes in is what comes out."

Is it possible you had a bad wire/cable when you recorded the tracks? If you did, then, that's where the buzz buzz is coming from.

Cables have a way of working for a long time; then, all of sudden, WO"OF two, three of them crap out--recently, I just tossed three cables that had static when wiggled.

You might test your rig by setting up to record and wiggling all of the cables to see if one is shot.

Or, the source may be a piece of gear?

Can't offer much more but if you check out your system, I'm sure you'll find the "rotten wire."

Did you try turning off the mic input? Sometimes that too will cause a problem like you have described.

Problem solved. I had a conflict where the Sonar playback latency was set too high. I messed around a bit and it's clean.
