SR 16 pad volume

When I record using my SR-16, the patterns are suitably loud. However, the pads don't generate nearly as much volume when "hit." Am I doing something wrong? I have to rotate the volume disc to max, which creates unwanted noise.

It's been awhile since I've used an SR16, but recollection is that you will need to adjust the velocity setting. I think all of the demo patterns in the SR16 were recorded at the maximum fixed value, so if you want to match the presets, you will probably need to adjust the Velocity setting to the max fixed value, which I think is 8(check the manual to be sure).
