title explains itself... give me your opinions please.

I doubt that anyone in here has ever had those two mics in the same room at the same time, so we'll hardly be of much help.

If you want my honest opinion, I'll say NEITHER.

The mic is so important that you dont want to be fighting it to get decent sound. You want something that'll sound great from the get go and make life easy

I've heard the dragonfly on acoustic guitar in person,
and the T3 on a Studio Projects listenening CD.
So do I at least get any Brownie points?

They both sounded quite good BTW!

Hi Cyan:

So are you saying both of these mics are quirky and that there's a more user-friendly mic to consider? If so, what is it?

The poster didn't mention what the application was for the mic, so that would have a great deal to do with which mic one would use ... is that what you mean?

I think that's a good way of describing just about anything from BLUE. Don't get me wrong . . . they make great mics, but they tend to be very "different" sounding - certainly not something I'd want on all my tracks. Although I know a lot of people who are huge fans of them as drum overheads (the dragonfly). The baby bottle is supposed to be incredible on kick drum . . . and I like the kiwi on vocals, although most people don't agree with me on that one. :)

I've heard sample tracks of both of these. I liked the T3 better. I think the Dragonfly is one of those quirky placement quirky EQ kind of mics. I could be wrong on that but the tracks I've heard seem to give me that feeling.

The Blue Kiwi, to talk about another Blue product, is a phenomenal vocal mic.

I have the Dragonfly, you can hear it here-

http://www.nowhereradio.com/artists/album.php?aid=1317&alid=-1

Everything was recorded on it,except the keys and drums.
The two versions of Amazing Grace were on a cassette 4 track, the other two were on a DAW.

Very versitile mic, sounds good on anything.
If that's what your looking for,I'd say check it out.

If your looking for just a vocal mic,the T-3 might be a better way to go,though I havn't heard it.

Hope this helps.

Best to you,
Pete

I have the BLUE MOUSE and the T3.
I haven't had much of a chance to use the T3 yet, maybe this weekend. I'll post some results on both as soon as I can.
I like the BLUE MOUSE, I wouldn't call it quirky, but it DEFINATELY has its own unique sound, and that can be a good thing.

Michael - given your expertise and other great things I have read from you...(and your killer looking studio!) I *really* want to hear your thoughts on the T3.

I am seriously considering that mic for my vocal mic. It's between really that, or an NTK...*maybe* a TLM-103 though I went and tried that one out for a while...and, I'm not convinced it's for me...given that I can only afford 1 vocal mic, for now.

I have a fairly low register voice...doing pop music...I just want something that portrays some "passion" etc.

I've heard a lot of great things about the T3...I certainly believe in Alans product...but, havn't heard much from actual users..esp. here.

So, let me know...look forward to you getting a chance to use it and respond.
