I'm located in a spareroom, above a garage. It's pretty nice, great for a studio because I can do anything to it. The only problem I have is noise leaking through to inside the house. I don't exactly know where, but I suspect it's the door. The current door is a firedoor (outdoor door). The room sticks off the house so the only spot noise could be coming through into the house is where you enter.
How do I go about reducing noise levels. When leaving my amp with a lot of feedback on and stepping out of the room with the door closed, there is literally no difference in volume and so it can be heard downstairs (yea, the feedback is a high frequency but regular playing can be heard).
There probably is a soundproofing door out there, but I don't know where to look and what to look at so that's why I'm asking. If you think replacing the door is unnecessary, then there probably is some material to seal the current door better. I guess it's required to have a firedoor if you have a garage door opener below the room, but it's not a problem. When my parent's sell the house, they can put it back on (that is if we take it off).
The room wasn't very well built but it's insulated with drywall. It has the truss design or whatever, the ceiling is is sloped on both sides. Could adding another layer of drywall help (or soundproofing fiberglass) to the one wall around the door. If so, that's a very small area so I don't think prices would be to bad.
Anyway, I'd like your opinion on this. Thanks
