ok so i have a pair of bx8's and im going to be buying either a preamp or a mixer, and a decent mic..now im looking at a soundcard

i record hip-hop vocals, so i only do one track at a time..and it doesnt look like im going to be going any bigger then that any time soon..i have a onboard soundcard right now. Is it going to decrease my soundquality by alot? If yes, what soundcard would you guys recomend. also, i need to plug in my monitors into it (1/4") and headphones (also 1/4") plus the mixer or preamp i am going to buy..i read the tweaker guide, but i know experiance is better, so what do u guys think..is a new soundcard vital to my studio, and which one do you think i should go with. Im running p4 2.4gh, 1024 ram, ASUS p48x mobo, geforce 4 ti 4600. thanks guys

$$$$$$$$$$$ give a price range for each Item you want to buy. cause audio interfaces can go as high as $2000+ to as low as $100 for new stuff.

If you get a recording soundcard, it will not only bump up your sound quality, but it will (should) make things, such as routing monitors/headphones and zero latency monitoring , much easier.

oh sorry i forgot about the price range..i want to spend 200 or lower on a soundcard...

soundcard . . .

You might consider the m-audio audiophile 192, very nice although no breakout box, many very useful plugs (MIDi and 1/4 TRS) for all your goodies!
