sound issues

i have recorded a full length cd on my fostex vf 80, digi 8 track and the whole thing is quiet. like 30% quietter than a normal cd. my main instrument for this (my 1st) cd was done on a korg er-1 rhythm synth/drum machine and contains much distorted efx. i cannot turn up the volume when mastering because of clipping or whatever. i tried messing with the eq but that didnt help and beyond that i dont know what to do. i have to get this cd mastered at or close to a store bought sound quality, i would very much appreciate any info that might help me. my email is dmns2003@yahoo.com

Possibly excessive bass frequencies you can't hear are eating up your headroom.

Then have a professional do it. You don't yet have the skills or experience.
