i'm looking at buying a pair of one of these mics for overheads/acoustic guitar but have heard equally good things about both. does anyone know where there are some sound clips of these mics in action (in the situations described above) so i can a/b them and see what might be better for my situation. and as always, if you think you might know something else i should try then let me know. i will be playing/recording mostly indie rock, folk rock, and acoustic stuff, and i have about 350 bucks to spend on a pair. thanks, J

A bit more expensive, but check out the new Peluso CEMC6 mics (about $535 a pair).

those look nice but they are a bit much, thanks for the info though! J

I haven't heard the Oktavas but apparently they're somewhat 'darker' so may be forgiving of cheap cymbals in a bad room .... which is something most of us homereccers have to contend with!! For my part I'm taking a punt on a pair of C4s as we speak.
