Hello mixers,
I know there are a lot of things missing from my songs in terms of mixing. I know that most of them are tiring to the ear because there are things too full and loud and not enough dynamics.

I want you to hear my already released stuff at starGraph på Myspace Music .

What are the most common levels for this kind of music? Any charts or templates I can see to know where they all stand in the mix. Pans? Frequency cuts? I have heard a lot that the loudest things should be the snare and vocals. Levels?

I think I am a pretty good music producer but I am ready to make further steps now so that the writing and music can speak for itself.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks guys,
Rob

yea man sounds GREAT! i think your overthinking it, and that can cause problems. and don't go around looking for charts and shit. USE YOUR EARS!!! if it sounds good then it IS good. and it seems to me you have some pretty ok ears.

Sounded okay to me, even on myspace's shitty player. "The Call" was actually pretty good.

There are no magical "mixing charts". If you feel your music could be better directed it's probably because you have heard other mixes that you feel do a better job. All you can do is examine those mixes to explore what you could do better. Even then, the chances are that your best key will not necessarily be the same as that of your heroes, so pay attention to your references, but don't become a slave to them.

I listened to the Call, I get the unusual vocal eq, but I think its too much. I find most people dont use high pass filters enough, on the contrary in this, the mix could use a little warmth on one or two instruments, its a little hollow around 200-400. Mind you these are small critiques, overall nice work.
