Vox...you gotta put this on your cd...it's too good to leave off. I don't know if I'd put it first though....that lo-fi beginning is a bit disconcerting. :D What can I say? This cooks in so many ways. The acapella at the end, the transitions from lo-fi to hi-fi, the song as a whole. It's jsut very creative and to me the only thing I'd look at changing would be the guitar ride. I can see why some folks would like less of he lo-fi although it didn't bother me after the first time. Once I knew it wouldn't be permanent it was ok. Definitely a song you should do something with (like put it on your cd ;) )

I forgot to ask ya;Does it really take them over a year to get to a song at Homerecording.com?They must get a ton of demos sent in to be that much of a wait until it makes it in the mag.(if it ever makes it in).

Im not sure what the exact timeslot is for them as an average, but as for mine, I can say that it took 13 months...

Well worth the wait.

I can't say im going to town with it.. My ego hasn't swelled, but I'd be....er...anyone would be lying if they said that a review like I got doesn't make them feel a bit more solid about their recording skills.

You earned it man with the amount of time and effort you put into your recording.Think of it as a stepping stone to the next plateau.

i agree with that too.

and i can really hear the 80's influence. i loved the tune , even the lo fi stuff. im a big fan of switches in songs, and you pulled it off well.

im not worthy!!

Vox-

this is my favorite tune of yours that I have heard...

Becuase I *love* the chorus. it has that classic "Cars" semi 80s sound to it...it's very awesome. great lyric...great melody..hook...it's awesome.

On the Lo-Fi...well, i think it's well done at least.....

I would rather see the lo fi drums come in for like the first 5 seconds, and then kick it into hi gear and leave it there...but, that's just me maybe.

there is a lot of lo fi stuff that I do like....I just think that it somehow takes away from the "pop" element of this song...after such a strong chorus...esp. going back to it for the second time.

You know, when you first kick into hi fi in the song....the words are something like "you are you, you lie" at like 1:02, that has a *very* Nirvana sound to it...the slide of the vocals and such

Your production in the hi fi parts is...dare I say it...the best I've heard from you. Great bass...great guitatrs....and your harmony on the "Mind is over time" (sorry i don't really know the words ;) ) is flawless.

So, really the only part of the song I don't care for is the second verse..
Definately see this as a track #1 contender dude. Rockin.

just read the review..that's great.

my ego would be through the roof :)

let me just ad that everytime I hear your stuff I want a Digi 001 :)

I've convinced myself that Whenever the next offering comes out (digi 002 or whatever)..I will get it..learn pro tools.

Of course, everytime I hear macles stuff I go to the Paris Pro website and check that system out again....haha...

does this make me an audio whore? :)

vox..

I don't believe I can say anything that hasn't been said other than the fact that this sounds really good on my shitty PC speakers at work. It'll prolly blow me away on the monitors at home.

I'd like the acapella to last a bit longer too, and up the vox throughout.

...was poking about the vv.com website. nice site. "Influences: NIN and Christopher Cross" that's covering some musical ground!

Thanks.... I can't even remember the lyrics myself..

Heres a little funny fast fact.... The song is called "I wish you'd never learn... But I never even say that in the song.... The lyrics were, "Wish you'd made your turn"... I don't know if it's my Canadian accent or what, but it after it was recorded and finished I realized it for some strange reason ended up sounding like "I wish you'd never learn".. So I changed the name of the song, and even though I sang "Made your turn", now the lyrics read "Never learn".....

But I am actually singing "Made your turn" there....

I think the Prechorus is:...

Here I am, You Lied
The sweetnest never died

Im for sure tonight
Your the least thing in my....

Chorus:....

Mind is overtimed
and I wish you "never learned"

I can't find my head
I just might be dead

Thanks alot man.. and get that digi rolling...

What are you saying during the backwards masking vocal sound? Are you programming us subliminally?:D

Nahhh... It's just the Prechorus turned around... Im too lazy to plan some elaborate subliminal shit :D

I tested that backwards masking shit one time on a chick and got some snatch!:D It works if you have a willing mind.;)

Another fast fact:

The 2 up-bends in the middle of the guitar solo is actually just one bend pasted over a second time....

I didn't like the original second bend so I just duplicated the first one over it....

When I re-do it I will make a better solo...
