I think the irritaion with Cakewalk is their leaving the previous version buggy while moving on to the Latest and Greatest. This is a classic move perpetrated by the VIA chipset folks. And the prime reason I will never use another system board with a VIA chipset (I'm in the computer business).

I'm a casual user of v2.2XL, and think about upgrading every now and again.

Does anybody have a solid feel for v4.0.4 being nice and stable, or does it have many unresolved bugs?

I had no issues with 4.0.4.
