Enchilada

Strange person.
Not sure if this it really thie right forum but, meh.
I've sold my Korg D16 for bugger all and I'm getting some new gear.
Here's a list of gear I have:

Studio Projects B1
MXL V67g
2 x Beh ecm8000
2 x beh B5
SM57
Senn e835
Beh UB802 mixer
Beh MIC200 pre with 12AX7-EH gold valve upgrade
Samson Resolv 40a monitors with 10" 100W sub

I think that's about it. Now this is what I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy:

Either the M-audio delta 66 or Delta 1010LT - Both are the same price
M-audio DMP3
Behringer MDX4600

For now I'll use the UB802 and MIC200 when using 4 inputs but eventually I want to get another DMP3 or possibly a better pre.

Before you all go nuts at me for saying the B word, its a 4 channel comp/gate so I plan on using it as an upgrade path. When I get more $$$ I'll get a RNC for vocals and using the MDX4600 just for drums.

Any suggestions/comments on what I've got here

You should have kept the D1600, except for the preamps, it's a great unit.

It wasn't a D1600. The D1600 has 16 faders, a 40GB hard disk and a built in CD burner. I had the older model D16 with no CD, 12 faders and a 6GB hard disk

Well that's good to hear. I would go with a RNC over the MDX.

Like I said I plan to end up with both, I need more than 1 channel of compression and there's no way I'm shelling out $1600 for 4 RNCs

Is there any way you can run your 4 inputs to a good mixer and then apply compression on the buss to each channel as needed?

That's not a bad idea :)
Was actually thinking of getting a mixer with at least 8 faders and built in effects (pretty much just for reverb) for laying down the final mix. Possibly even mix down to dat or a reel to reel.

Have been looking at the Behringer Eurorack UB1622FX-Pro. I can pick one up for AU$307 shipped. Doesn't really matter if the pres in it aren't top notch cos I'll just be using it for mixdown.

He're the page for it:

I have no idea of what DAT is or how it works, is there a way of using one of these mixers to mix down to dat?

Would I have to run out the Delta 1010LT into the mixer, then out the mixer into the soudcard, then out again but this time the s/pdif? damn i'm confised

Or can I just get me an outboard A/D converter?

Full of questions me. I actually didn't mind the pres on the little berry mixer I have but they aren't great. Does the Beringer XENYX 1222FX have better pres? It's heaps more expensive.

I am not a Behringer Basher, I use a few of their items. But please don't get a Eurotrack Mixer. I made the mistake and it was just bad.
I purchased a Soundcraft Spirit M-Series. It has 4 aux sends, great preamps, EQ and a digital output. I would run all of my gear into the mixer, hook up my outboard effects and the dynamic processor to the aux buss or the main inserts and then take that digital output into your soundcard. Just my 2cents.

I am not familiar with the EMP8. It looks like it does not have Master Inserts or a Digital Output. I like to put my Compressor and EQ box on the Master Inserts.
I have no idea how good or bad the preamps or EQ's are. I can only speak about the Spirit M-Series. Maybe someone else on this board has used a EMP8.
