Ive Looked All Over The Net For People Posting Abotu This Problem but Cant Find One.

Basicly Im Producing On Fruity Loops 4 Full Version All Legit.... A Yamaha PSR-160 Midi Compatible And I GOt The Midi Leads As I Want to start playing in real time rather than in a piano roll.

Ive Hooked It ALl Up Correct According To 1000 Tutorials Online.. Cnnecting The Midi Plug Into The Joystick Port On My Soundcard.

Yet In Fruity Loops Theres Nothing Coming Out.

Ive Tried Re Installing The Drivers And Notign Changed..

Im Really Confused By It... I Just Wanna Sort It All Out As Im Starting Makin Stuff Thats Being Played In CLubs And Radio's SO I Wanted To Advance My Production With This Plz Help SOMEONE WOULD BE VERY VERY GREATFUL
 
What soundcard do you have? Do you have the MIDI cables correctly fitted? what OS are you using? few questions, but hopefully we should have you sorted out :)
 
Just a C-Media Wave Device.
The Cables Are In>Out Out>in

But i cant find any trace of a signal in fruity loops

which is annoying seeing as i spent x amount of money on vst's this week

have you tried using something like midi-ox?

it should tell you if you are at least getting midi signals to your cpu.

also make sure you are set correctly in control panel/soundsand audio (xp)

you might want to also try to borrow (or buy and return) a little usb midi in/out..

maybe your sound card midi is kaput?

I had similiar trouble before and it was due to my keyboard settings..... ?

Windows isn't going to "see" your keyboard. All it's going to see is the interface it's connected to. IOW, the MIDI device you're going to find in Windows is the soundcard in your case. That could well be an MPU401 (a standard, generic, MIDI driver). If you get a MIDI interface proper-such as a MIDISport 2x2, for instance- then it will show up in Windows as such, but it won't matter what you connect to it as far as Windows is concerned.

seriously try midi ox.... you can see all midi ins/outs and all data.....
 
When I had my MIDI controller hooked up to FL, I had to select the MIDI device in the [SETTINGS] menu. I believe with my old Joystick > MIDI adapter it was just MIDI MAPPER or something like that. It was reletively painless and when I touched a key the MIDI INPUT would light up in the FL "task bar"
 
Yeah, it sounds like it just needs setting up via FL. Go into Preferences/options and check MIDI settings, it will most probably say "input = No input". Just change it and voila :)

ive set ti all up correctly in fl but i think i foudn the problem.

in my system hardware profiles the "audio controller" (which i belive is my keyboard) was conflicting and i tried uninstallin it and that seems tyo be what it is as i re booted with it unplugged then sut down plugged it in starting it up and it came up syain new hardware found.

So i tried to install it and put my sound card driver cd in the drive but it says that it failed to install the hardware.

no idea why or what????? anyonw (sorry if im being a pain)
 
Try downloading the drivers from the manufacturers website. Have you tried downloading that MIDI OX to see if the signal is getting past your soundcard? Might narrow the search to see whats wrong that way.

and i got the sodun drivers but it says its an unsucsessful installation
 
Right so its not software related then, at least you can now start looking at your keyboard/cables. what i suggest is you unplug it all, and start again making sure all the cables are correctly fitted in the correct places. If your still unsuccesful, i think you should see if you can test your keyboard on another computer, and test your cables etc. Could be a faulty connection on your keyboard? Cables could be faulty? Its something externally so just see if you can check your gear on another Pc that would probably be the best.
 
It doesn't sound like a cable problem at all. He's got an error showing in his device manager. You don't have the correct drivers installed for the soundcard.

What OS are you running? Did you check the soundcard manufacturers web site for updated drivers?

I don't know if you want to put any money into this, but I would recommend a sound card upgrade or, at least, a USB MIDI interface. You can get a MIDISport 2x2 for around $50.00, I think, less if you can find a used one.
