Made some recording with the SM57 and the Saffire 24PRO. The results are very good! With the Gain at 80% to 95% the acoustic guitar is perfect. Even at these gain levels the noise is very low, near zero!
I have to test
the MCE530, I do not have lot of time these days...
I have no experience with mics and instrument recording but I am in the electronic field and I was in the hifi field years ago. I can say the saffire 24 has excellent mic preamps.
The X2u is good but the gain is too low for some applications and even if the quality is fine, it is not comparable with the Saffire.
I also like the Saffire Mix Control software, with last firmware you can download the mixing configuration directly in the Device, then you can unplug the firewire and use the Saffire as a stand alone unit. If you want to use it with another PC you can upload the configuration on the new PC and make modifications. Excellent!
Now I'm satisfied with the setup, just waiting for 2 yamaha HS50M and the rec studio is complete!
