Simple way to sepatate audio from video?

I have this very simple (hopefully temporary problem- This old TV we're using -coax combo signal-in, has god awful sound. I have an old Symetrix eq that would be just the ticket.
Looking for cheap solutions?

Coax to DVD, video output of DVDplayer to TV, audio output of DVDplayer to any other audio equipment you want (eventually to an amp and speakers or a hi-fi).
