I am doing a live show w/ a QS 8. I have numerous patches I'm using, and want to find a way to change from one patch to the next by putting them all in order. I have read the manual and am still confused. Am I looking to create a sequence? How do I do this? I'm kind of a techno-dolt.

If you just want to manually switch between the patches using the up, down and number buttons, you need to copy the patches you want into the User bank. This will overwrite the existing User bank patches, but you can always get those back if you have a computer with a midi port, midi librain software and the patch files from Alesis (all the software you need came with the QS8 and is also available at the Alesis web site).

Saving the patch to the user bank is simple.
1) Select the patch you want
2) Press "Edit Select"
3) Press "Store"
4) Key in the number you want to assign to the patch (e.g. 001)
5) Press Store again

Thats it. Now you can select the User bank and scroll between the patches in the order you stored them, or recall by number.

thank you!

This is precisely what I needed. thanks!

QS8 question

I once tried to use a lightpipe directly form my QS8 into my adat. I went by the book to the best of my ability and I did get a signal but it was not very good.
Anyone else ever try this?

Never tried it but now you have me curious. Describe "not good". Did you have the ADAT slaving to the QS-8?

I don't remember exactly what I did, I know I did not use a sync cable so I assume nothing was slaved. I am pretty sure I just took a light pipe out from the keys to the lightpipe in on the adat? I dont have the key manual here now so cant read it to refresh my memory.
The adat did record but it was a weak distorted signal. I remember setting the adat to digital and maching I can't remember which rate, 44,000 or 48.1, I think I had to set them in the keys and on the adat?
Anyway.

:)
