This is just a test of my new ribbon mic, your looking for:

Remember Me, ShinyBox23 Ribbon test

http://mysite.verizon.net/resq6asf/

Little bit of a compressor was used, 2.5 dB was taken out at 300Hz, no desser used...not sure if I would need one?? Not much else done besides a limiter plugin on the main out, and as always a touch of reverb.

Thanks for sharing.

That song sonds pretty catchy ... I liked it. Is
it an original?

The verb seemed a little heavy on the 3035.
The essing was noticeable on the 4033.

Were you the same distance from all three
mikes when you sang? If so, the ribbon
seems to have a lot of presense, as if
you are more "on mic".

I hear this tune a lot on KLOVE, but I cant remember who wrote it. Mark Schulz?

I am definitely liking the ribbon mics better and better all the time for voice. This ribbon is noticeably better than the AT for your voice. Very nice!

I just got an Apex 210 (same manufacturer I believe) and I really like it, I use just a slight boost at 12K for clarity, and it doesn't need any compression or de-esser or anything. It's pretty cool. And it's quieter than my RE20.

You say you took out a slight cut at 300hz, did you just listen and decide that was what it needed? Or were you looking at the wave on screen to see which freaks were too hot?

Well first that is my wife singing not me hehehehehe, you wouldn't want to hear me sing  :o .

She was 2 feet back from the ribbon mic, and was recorded in my larger room then the other clips. As far as I remember she was alot closer for all the other clips. It is not an orginal, the instruments were prerecorded, I just recorded the vocals. As far as the EQ, I just felt 300hz was resonating alot. Yes I think Remember Me is a Mark Schultz song.

How does the Apex compare to your RE20?
