JR - While I think you certainly could have worded that just a wee bit more carefully (seeing's how she's my daughter) ;), I think I know what you meant, and I appreciate it (again).

yeah, it does sound a bit... over wee... sorry 'bout that. if it makes ya feel any better, I pass you around the office and I"m damn proud of you as well!

Chris,

You must be one proud dad!

glad i wasn't the only one. i thought that immediately also.

chris, i just got around to reading the previous replies so now I know that Jaimee is reading this also.

Jaimee, your dad is very cool for being so involved. My dad was the same way when I was a kid...and I played the drums, so he (and the rest of the family) had to put up with my constant thrashing in the basement.....and look at me now...still thrashing around in the basement :)!

Anyway, stick with music and keep singing. It just may be the one thing that keeps you sane if some day later in life you find yourself with a 'career' (which is generally a word that simply makes you feel better about working for someone else your whole life). I do sincerely hope your career winds up being music though. Seems like you have what it takes from what I can hear.

I've listened to this 10 times now!

Lol, the charts don't mean a damn thing. Took me a year before I even bothered to put any up since people hounded me that they wanted them. All they mean is that someone managed to con more people to listen than the next guy.

Yep, recordings got the odd pop, there is the odd flat note on her low octive, and she's singning from her chest most of the time, so the power isn't all there, but that's something that is hard to get out of. A voice coach or a breathing coach will help that with a couple months of prodding.

For the age, and a pure grass roots voice/acoustic recording, pretty damn good. Hope you've instilled the glorious quality of independence into her young mind, if not, I'm standing by with the de-brain-wash machine.

W.

Listening with a big smile on my face.

What a voice! Lot's of power - even for a grownup. Good playing as well. Keep it up.

DITTO WHAT ALL OTHERS SAID!!!!!

She sings amazing.
She plays amazing.
The recording captures both.

I only wish my 1 1/2 year old daughter learns to do something like that at her age. Well, anyway I will give her all the opportunity and support to do so, and I hope you continue giving yours to Jaimee.

Keep it up, you two!

Cheers!

Well, while it's here...

I said I wasn't going to respond anymore, because that's Jaimee's job at this point, but you all have been so nice, and it's already here at the top of the page momentarily, so I'm just dropping in to say that JAIMEE will be in later to do this properly, but til then.

Scott Tansley - Screw You. :D
JR#97 - I feel pimped, but in a good way
mcmd - Proud, yes. Thanks.
erichenryus - Jaimee better say something waaaay cool to you (hint, J)
Waldo - Screw you and your charts that don't matter..(unless you can somehow rig them for her, then you're all cool and stuff). :D
MMM - Look at the trend you started on this board. Nice.
Flapo - I like your latest...I'm saving my thoughts on it 'til I can respond properly.

HOLY CRIPES!!!!! Beautiful, amazing, great.....don't let this talent go unchecked. AWESOME! 'nough said.

:D :D :D

Finally got a listen to this, nice potential on the pipes.

The only thing I would change would be the accent on the line that goes up, biBLE! arriVAL! , it's either too redundent or too loud, I'm not sure. Other than that, I enjoyed it quite a lot.

Unbelievable! ---ditto to all the good things already said.

I d/l'd this the other night, I'm just a slacker when it comes to posting. :D

I was duly blown away.

Reaching for those high notes, there's a small control issue - but damn, that's nit picking. A little compression would reign in the peaks, but as this is done with one mic - it would probably hurt more than help.

Just a little more refinement, and there's a highly promising career ahead. Not sure I'd wish that on you though. :D

12 yrs. old... that's it. I quit. :(

...and she sings a little.

This is a tune my daughter (Jaimee) recorded about an hour ago.

BEFORE YOU LISTEN, keep a couple of things in mind:

1. She's 12;
2. She's singing AND playing the guitar at the same time;
3. We did 2 takes, and this is the first... (no edits); and
4. She has no idea I'm posting this.

All I did was put the mic in front of her, and then added some reverb (and some hiss???) I'm going to let her read your comments, so if you could...please tell her which lines YOU would re-do if this were yours. In other words, tell her where she's flat, and where her dad let the vocal distort... She wants to learn.

(oh yeah, and NO FLAMING!!!...foul language is permissible, though)

Tune is called "Lorraine"

You're a LIAR!!! She's a 25 year old pro you paid to try to put one over on us!

nothing like posting at the end of the line.... and a week late..etc, etc....

this thread (among many others) I did listen to when first put up...but for my lame reasons, never really posted anything. ..just a listen. There is soooo many threads in the clinic now, it seems hard to stay current.

oh well...enuff excuses.

12 year old on her way to 'stardom'. you're a lucky dad...and ought to be quite proud. I think of all the 12 year olds I know, and they SEEM like kids in comparision to this. This was awesome. kinda like a teen-challenge thing, musically speaking (song selection, etc)...but just great.
