Does anyone know if E-504 is the same as the E-604? I can't find the 504's that Harvey had listed. They sounded pretty nice.
Also, does anyone know what the number of the Sennheiser mic was that is gold on one side, black on the other, and is a flat square shape, kind of like the Sennheiser E-609 shape. The gold and blacks sound great on toms.
Thanks,
Paul
Hey Harvey... how are those Tannoys you have? A local used store has a pair for $200 I was thinking about buying them. Should I?
Also, I notice you have a Lucid. Whats your opinion on that?
And last, Drawmer makes a front end for like $600 that has the same preamp section as the 1960. Would you recommend it?
Thanks...

The E-604 looks identical to my E-504. I don't know why they changed the model numbers.

Are you talking about the D12? That was a standard kick drum mic in the 60s. If it's a "thin" black and gold square mic, I thought that was an AKG - something like a D30

If you're talking about the Tannoy "System Two", I wouldn't buy it for even $200. Most of the other Tannoy models are pretty good. I got rid of mine as soon as I could.

I like the Lucid a lot. I haven't heard the Drawmer.

On your website you have listed the Tannoy pbm-6's, I think is the model number.. and you also have a Drawmer 1960 listed. The Drawmer supposedly has the same preamp section as the 1960 does. Just wondering how you like it.

Ah, the Tannoy PM-6 - those are pretty good. As far as the Drawmer 1960, I don't use the mic pre section all that much. I use it mostly for the D.I. and the compressor.

The 504 and the 604 are the same mic. I think they just updated the number to reflect their new "Evolution" line of mics.

That would be the 409...way overpriced on the vintage market, although they do sound real nice, especially on a Vox AC-30, or as you mention, toms....

Hey, why is it that the discontinued mics always rule? Go down the list--the KM84, the old 421s, the 409s, the old 414s, the D12s, D25s, Radio Shack PCMs, Beyer Soundstars, etc. etc...

Maybe they should leave well enough alone?
