Fancy Rock N' Roll
Recently I got this mic from a friend who closed his studio and moved. He alows me to test it for about a week before I buy it. It's Sennheiser Blackfire 509. He told me he never made a good use of it because it sounds weak. Tought he never use phantom power on it (cause he doesn't have one) he thinks it's a condenser, and yes, he mounted it on antishock clip  :o ... I searched infos on the net as no avail. I tried it without phantom, it does work but giving weak signal. Had to crank my pre-amp (Mackie) to make it audible. So... anyone... was it condenser or dynamic? I heard it's good for miking guitar cab, how about vocals or acoustic?

Thanks!

I could be thinking of the wrong mic here, but isn't the Blackfire 509 a stage/live use version of the MD 409? Is it square shaped, similar looking to the e609 Silver?

Thanks Adam :)

I dunno, but here's some pic...

I heard it's great instrument mic. I'm thinking as alternative to SM57 I had. Do I need phantom to use it, or...?

Yeah, I'd definitely say dynamic. Look for info about the MD409 from Sennheiser. I'm almost positive that they're nearly identical.
