whoa,

A friend found out I was into home recording and his father in law gave me a teac 2300sx with all manuals, new tapes unopened, all original brochures, etc.

He made a few tapes with it and its been in a closet for years. Clean as a whistle.

only bummer is no noise reduction, but whos gonna complain? my god it was given to me.

Just had time to put it on the desk and clean the heads and demag although they look like they have never been used.

i had to post this!!

Im a happy dog!

Im wondering if I can somehow incorporate my 424mkIII w/noise reduction while either tracking or mixing down to compensate for the sans noise reduction?

I unsealed a brand new tape and quickly recorded just my acoustic and vocals and played it back and totally lost it. i cant believe the natural fidelity on the sound it projects.

I probably wont even care about no noise reduction because it seemed to have a good s/n ratio as is.

I was very fortunate that the owner is one of the guys we all like, who kept the manual and everything almost hermetically sealed!!

4 unopened tapes, even the little polishing square that came with these things.

I also finally set up the tascam M-35 mixer I scored last year for 80 bucks to record drums. Im just using the direct in/out channel strips but you can tap into the killer eqs. I normally use a yamaha mg16 for drums but this frees me of the limitations that has with the buss outs. I can finally run out 8 strips for drums to record 8 drum tracks.

its gettin fun. i just wish i had more time and no bills to pursue this most satisfying musical and creative experience.

a friend of mine asked how i learned so fast how to do this and i told him i read, read and then read. But the best thing has been this particular site when youre an old newb like me.

you guys are great. you all set off a lot of light bulbs all over the country for those of us who are learning and occasionaly hit the wall.

Yeah man, you scored!

It's crazy what people just give away these days!

R/R is great fidelity, though.

We need pics!;)
