Perfect title for musicianship, spiraling downward. :) J/K Is this the band you were venting about in the techniques forum? What are they using for a drummer? a monkey????? Hehehe, I'm just kidding, the song isn't the greatest, but the recording/ (heavy editing???:)) is awesome, just like the rest of your work I'm sure. Good Job. (make the most of what you got? :)) No, but seriously, it sounds great man, good job.

not my kinda stuff really but I really like the acoustic at the start ;) some of the doubled geetars are a bit too loose for me, dunno if that was deliberate? Also parts of the vox seemed low aswell but I'm listening on hifi cans cos its a bit late for metal on me monitors :D

You obviously aint no newbie :D sounds good for the genre. needs to be happier though :p

LOL... Jeezus... these guys love those doubled kick drum hits, eh? Never laughed out loud at over-drumming before. Heh... that shits so funny it's embarrassing :) Will the band like it? Do they like it now?

Definitely could see this selling a few CDs...

If this was that band you wuz bitchin about, you really DID do a wonderful job of editing those drums... those over-drummed drums... gawd... that's just too funny... b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-boom :D No dynamics in the song... (except the repetetive guitar at the opening). Guess this singer thinks he's Maynard Keenan, eh?

Production is commercial quality, or there-abouts. A lot of guitars... good separation even with all the busy-ness... Yep... a shitty song :p feel sorry for ya if this is what you gotta deal with everyday :)

Nice Job, man. That kick sounds like it was played by about 12 rabbits...

Rip away! I hate it.

Ed

well...this is just the most lovely thing I have ever heard you do Ed. The singing just melts my heart and the guitars are so "stimulated". The bass drum mimics the way it makes my heart throb. You big butch, you;)

XXXOOO!!!

oh.... I liked "eddie" better than ED

How did you manage to get such a good mix while laughing so hard? :D

Tryin to imagine what it could sound like while it's downloading...at 50%...I'm laughing at the other replies...85%...96%...here we go...

Oh...my....Yup the name says it all, started out with potential...wow this is really fucked up.Tempo keeps changing in a bad way. This cries out to be cool...but has lost its voice.Sounds rushed and ill-prepared.Some cool riffs IMO but not tight like it should be...it stopped...and then it started again. If I ever make stuff like this please pull me aside forcefully and tell me to stop.I LOVE metal but this is a little shamefull. This song was not executed well. They need a new drummer and then maybe they can start over.I hate dissin' people(unless I can do it to their face) but I'll make an exception and say....:(

Good job on tracking and such but the tempo is all over the place. The drummer is a slug.

Ed... at least it was well-recorded!!!! ;)

Seriously bad performance by the band.... just goes to show ya, good recording means shit if the band is crap! :D

Click track must of been a bitch to set up.

They sound like they have some potential, but if they are content to play with a spaz drummer like that, maybe not. The ideas are there, just can't seem to execute them.

Good recording though!

That drummer makes me want to rip off his left leg and beat him to death with it.

The singer sucks.

I hope these boys don't think they have a serious shot at a recording contract.
I forsee a future of ditch-digging and pizza-delivery for these guys.

The mix was good, though. ;)

it is nowhere near as bad as I was expecting..

the recording is great.. maybe the guitars are a bit too overpowering, but that's probably just from the the snare being a bit low..

I actually thought the song was pretty decent, and the mosh part around 2:35 was enjoyable.. the drums are strange in some parts, but I wouldn't necessarily call them wrong..

BTW, I have a copy of 'Toothache' that I saved, and I have been thinking about laying a vocal to it.. I would never post it without your approval.. If I finish it, I'll send you a message if you care to hear it..

man it starts out great..the recording itself sounds really good
the song sucks...but the guitar isnt all that bad...i play drums and if this guy wants to be THAT outfront MAYBE HE SHOULD TRY PLAYING GUITAR ..thats what i did...anyway..the singer even has a pretty good voice when he is singing and not yelling....hey i have a bunch of freinds in bands in portland...ever heard of wendell hammon (drummer)or derek horne (singer)???.

most people seem to have problems with the drumming of this band, but i really felt that for this kind of music, the drummer went about things pretty well (the double-bass type stuff) the only thing that threw me off with the drums was the constant up and down tempo changes. i'm one that believes in going from 130BPM to 260BPM or 65BPM.. but this guy is going up and down like 5-10BPM and it kind of screws up the flow for me. but all in all i think the drums aren't all that bad.

the melodies are those "vocal melody follows the rhythm guitar" dort of melodies and that's something i've always hated. sabbath's iron man is one of my least favorite songs for that same reason and through the verses of this song, it seems to me that this guy is kind of doing the same thing. it tells me that whoever put the words to the music has a hard time pulling the melody away from the music and giving it a life of its own.

the recording itself is top notch, as far as i can tell... the guitar tone is great.. it's not all static, which is a problem i often have with my own music.. it has it's own place in the mix and doesn't blend in with anything else in a way that takes away from any one particular instrument.

for the most part, i don't think it's a terrible song except for some "take the easy way out" melodies and weird tempo changes that i cannot imagine were done intentionally.

I think I feel pretty much the same way B. SABBATH feels.

Apart from being boring and having an inconsistent tempo, I don't think it was half as bad as most of you made it out to be. I understand the stuff about the kick because it's really up front in the mix, but I listen to a lot more chaotic, double bass oriented stuff, so I guess I'm used to the "rabbits on crack" thing.

As for the mix, which is the issue at hand, I think it sounds really good. The guitars sound very good and thick. I think the snare gets a little lost, but other than that, it's far better than anything within in my range of "skills."
