Hello,
We are trying to link following components in a midi setup:
a Dell PIII 800 laptop with Cakewalk Sonar as sequencer;
a Roland E30 keyboard (old but with beautiful sounds)
a Roland E600 keyboard.
Both keyboards are linked with an Midiman Midisport Uno USB midi interface to the laptop.
The idea is to play with 2 musicians simultanuously (one on the E 30 and the other on the E600) and record this with the laptop, eventually adding tracks to an already registered arrangement.
Important: they don't use the arranger function, but just play melodic lines.
What happens is that during playback of Cakewalk, all sounds get mixed up.
Normally when each keyboard is set to a different midi channel, the sounds recorded with the E30 should sound back through the E30. Same for the E600.
What's going on? I suppose that in one way or the other the keyboards don't keep there channel assignment.
Who can help us out here? All help is highly appreciated.
Thanks for reading this.
