OK, I'm about to pull the trigger on getting one. I've read nothing but accolades about it.

How do you like it? What do you like about it? What don't you like about it? Has it been a problem not having a low-end roll off or pad? What have you found it's good on? What have you found it's not good for?

I know there've been a few threads mentioning this mic, but thought I'd start one focused only on this mic and those who have heard/owned it.

I plan to use it on male voice (mine) and acoustic guitar, anything else would be a bonus (room mic, distant guitar amp mic). I currently have Groove Tubes condensers: GT55, which I find a little too crispy; GT66 which is just OK, but seems to be missing something - a high end sheen maybe, seems very lower mid heavy. Anyhoo, I think I can find something better, particularly for my voice, which I'd say is slightly on the soft (in hardness factor) side.

Thanks for your input!

I posted a mini shootout that envolved the K2 here.
they are 24 bit wav files.

{mic D} is the rode K2

I know it isnt going to tell you how it sounds on "your" voice, but might give you some idea.

I personally thought it was really detailed, but also really flat. if your looking for big bumps in your low or high end. You will probibly have to eq them in. But I can say it has a certain detail about it.

hope this helps

I like my K2. I've found it really versatile. I found a few voices that I prefered other mics for, but not very often. It works well on a variety of different instruments as well. As was mentioned its quite detailed. As soon as I have the dough I plan on buying another for stereo purposes, and I really like the omni setting on it.

Thanks Frusciante Fan (and In Tune and Flatpicker).

What are the other mic's in your shootout?

I like my K2... I replaced the stock tube with a NOS Telefunken ECC88 and it helped it even more... I do however like female and higher male vocals better on my TLM-103... On the K2, I don't see how you can go wrong...

mic A - is the rode ntk

mic B - is the at4040

mic C - is the shure ksm27

Trigger has been pulled...it will arrive Friday.

Thanks for your contribution to my GAS :D .
