Ok, so i want to get a small home recording studeo for my house. Its for hip hop, and the recording will be rapping, and instruments i use to make the music. I currently have an ART studio MP preamp, a shure sm58 mic, a stand, a pop screen, a fast computer, a sb live (aaah nooo) and a bunch of softwear, like acid, soundforge, logic audio, fruity loops, etc... I want to add to it, and im confused exactly how the setup works, going along the line from mic to computer.
Ok, so i add a Delta 44 card, a pair of decent moniters, and maybe an outboard compressor. So it goes mic-compressor-pre-delta breakoutbox-comuter?
hows that work? isn't that a lot of different connections for the signal to pick up noice and degrade?

Mic,Preamp,Compresser,Delta then Computer...Good luck

You dont need the compressor for tracking. Cut it out to save signal quality and use it in the mix if you need it.

You'll also need either powered monitors or an seperate amplifier.

Good cables and a quality surge protector

Yush..
I was trying to keep my mix quiet so i invested in some monster cables (they r not cheap) and a quality surge protector from best buy $75.00 WHAT A DIFFERENCE In SOUND.
