well i never made a remix
so i decided to give it a go

now i would actually like to use this remix (either on a album or send it to them)
when contacting the record label how should i ask to use this acapella, and actually get a legitimate response from them (meaning that im serious about using this acapella)

any ideas
and the record label is an idependant label, nothing "mainstream" but they are still very respected in the underground scene

thanks all
peace

Well u'd have to ask cha, hi and jug.

It's up to them to sort it out.

...

sorry, this is not about the remix from anyone on this site

its from swollen members off battle ax records, in canada

peace

Ah - I'm on the same wavelength as you now.

You should definately get their permission first else u'll get into serious shit.

u need to clear it with the group...if u are tryin to sell the remix to make money..if u tryin to get pick up by the label as a producer/beatmaker u can..but it is wise just to make sure u have their permission..cause if not they will try and sue the hell out of u..

SIMPLE tellem yo want to try to do a remix of one of there joints most cats will be like cool let em hear a piece then talk about hookin it up

I disagree somewhat...

You are free to sample, remix or reconstruct any commercial song out there. If just one person listens to your version, it becomes free publicity for the group. Now that's just for fun or practice. If you're tryin to make a quick buck, you'd better get the okay from the source unless you're kin to johnnie cochran. They will want a piece (if not all) of the money you make. Remember that group The Verve? They had that song "bittersweet symphony" that sampled from Aerosmith (i think). Asmith sued them cats out of the business all cause they never gave them the courtesy of a phone call. Asmith let Eminem sample "Sing for the Year". They woulda hooked them cats up, but they never holla'd at em. Now they're nowhere to be found. Don't let it happen to you.
Remember: be creative and free. Just don't get rich off someone else's creativity. That's dead wrong.......unless u'r puffy.
