recording multiple tracks at once

My band has been making demos for fun for a couple months now, I'm looking to upgrade my setup enough so that I can record 3 or 4 separate tracks at once. We're on a real tight budget (we're 15 year olds) and we only have like 150 bucks in our whole band fund right now. Currently I mic the drums, bass, and guitars to a little Mackie DFX6 and run that into the line input of my soundcard, and edit with N-Track. (I add extra guitar parts and vocals later.) I've tried recording the drums alone and then adding the bass on its own track and then the guitars, but it just ends up sounding confused and we're not together. So I'm deducing that we're going to need a multiple input soundcard (like this one?). My question is, how do I hook up the mixer to the inputs of the soundcard? There's only one line output on the mixer. Am I going to have to buy a new mixer? Or, should I save up and use the mixer for the drums only and buy separate preamps for each guitar, and run each pre into it's own input on the soundcard (if that's possible). Any help would make my day.
Thanks,
-Mike

How about playing the parts right so they are in time?

That's the cheapest solution right there.

i think Cloneboy is right... If i was you here is how i would aproach your situation, record the drums seperate and have the guitarist play along with drummer... give the drummer head phones that come from the lineout of a guitar amp so the drummer has reference... make sure the drummer counts off 1234 to start the song, and on any parts where the drummer stops playing and its just guitar or sumin, have the drummer do some clicks on the hi hat to keep timing then cut them out later when editing... that should leave u with a solid drum track, then record guitars, bass, vocals ect...

The only problem is if the drummer plays inconsistently.

The only real solution to that problem is to get a new drummer, or edit him in Alsihad for the next few months.

That card should do what you want, thouugh looking at the picture I couldn't see where you'd plug 4 ins and 4 outs.

Another option is the M-Audio delta 44 card
