Hey guy's, I would like know the best way to record live drums on a boss br1180 cd 8 track. The unit inputs are 2 XLR mic inputs with phantom power, Line inputs and a dedicated Guitar input. I have a Behringer eurorack mx 1804x 14 channel mixing board, and 4 drum mic's. Any input would be great...

Thanks

I tjugh you could only record two tracks at a time with the boss... Then you'd have to record everything into your mixer and send the blended mix to the stereo track of your boss.

I prefer 2 (condenser OH), BD mic and snare mic, sometimes an additional HH mic, you may have problems with the toms this way. But the drum micing style is rather philosophical, so YMMV

I'd record the kick on one track with an AKG D-112, and the snare on a second track with a Shure SM-57, at the same time, from beginning to end. Then, record everything but the kick and snare on two tracks with two small diaphragm mics (Shure SM-81 x 2) in a stereo pair, syncing these two tracks to the kick and snare. If you can afford four tracks for drums, then move ahead with the other four parts on the remaining four tracks. If you can't afford four drum tracks, mix the four drum tracks into a stereo image and bounce them onto two open tracks. This will leave you with six open tracks. Good luck!
