I like my recordings.
excuse me RE, but I was at work.
here is the deal:
I will buy a mixer with 8 direct outs,
or inserts that can be use it like direct outs (post faders),
to conect them to a guillemot ISIS or 8/24 (8 ins, of course) each D. Out to one IN.
then rec 8 simultaneus tracks at the same time, (we are talking about a real drum kit set) WITHOUT ANY EFFECT OR DYNAMIC PROCESING to the computer, lets say in cool edit pro...
then work with every track ALONE, and send one by one to the mixer, example:
lets start with the kick: send it to the mixer (computer-mixer), use the compresor with the settings it needs and recording it in track 9, (the sound card is full duplex and can do that, play while record) so you will have a kick with compresion and another without, erase the one without compresion, then you work with the one you want (eq, or whatever it needs), then, the snare, cause the snare needs diferents settings then the kick and I only have 1 compresor.
etc...
the toms, in 3 separete traks, send them together, to the compresor and work with them in just one track. I will use software to pan left to right.
cymbals left them bright.
what do you think about it????
kick, snare and toms, separate compresor settings.
