I didn't read all of the postings above so chances are that someone has probably allready said some of the things I'm about to say hehe
Oh how I'm glad to see that it isn't just me getting tired of people doging reason and calling it a toy, "a great steppingstone" at best. That program is loaded with capability and if you're not getting what you want...guess what? It ain't the program that's lacking potential, it's the man behind rack.
Currently I'm using Reason rewired with Cubase, but mostly for the vocal recording. I've been using reason since it first came, and listening to the things I made back then compared to what I make now, I'm able to support the statement that; "If you're not getting what you need it's the man behind the rack" even further.
Reason has come a long way from starting with only one sampler and one synth, but that's where the challenge lies isn't it?
I think that people have a tendensy to dog what they don't understand and people of this generation (myself included) hasn't had all that much experience with hardware so when presented to Reason, really gets thrown off by the complex look of it. I'm a musician so I take it upon me to learn how they did it in the old days to understand production better, and back then it was all hardware and hard work. Now, when R3 is coming it's getting even better, allthough I have to express my disappointment in the sense that it's lacking any new synths to play with. The combinator caught my eye though and I'm looking forward to getting my hands on it. Of course the new MClass tools isn't exactly going to hurt either. I wasn't all that happy with the compressor in the Reason before now, the new one is way more userfriendly and not to mention the fact that the knobs/faders on R3 has "real values" instead of 0-127...it really is better to see the ms & Hz...
Ok this is getting way to long so I'll back of now hehe
